The population in 2006 was 4372 people. Woree is next to the Bruce Highway. Schools located in Woree are Woree State School, Woree State High School, Saint Mary’s College and St Gerard Majella Catholic School. There was a popular Drive In movie theatre close by but it is no longer operational.

Cairns' major horse-racing track (Cannon Park) is in Woree and also a large tavern (Woree Tavern). Popular local icons are McDonalds, Piccones IGA, Calana Pharmacy, Southside Shopping Complex and The Cairns Coconut Resort.

From Woree to Brisbane is 1,677 km via the Bruce Highway.
