Winsford station was upgraded in winter 2010 which included state of the art help points and electronic arrival/departure boards as well as a departure monitor in the main building. It was announced on 1 August 2011 that Winsford is one of a number of stations which are being considered for a stop on the new 250 mph service from Manchester to London. The town council greeted the news and have been building a case to why Winsford should have this link, the decision should be made by 2013 and if approved will be up and running by 2025.
