Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is the county-wide, statutory
emergency fire and rescue
service for the ceremonial county of Wiltshire
, England
. It is administered by a joint authority of 13 members, 9 appointed by Wiltshire Council
and 4 by Swindon Borough Council, called the Wiltshire and Swindon Fire Authority (Chairman, Brigadier Robert Hall
). The members serve for an annual term.
The service is also one of the few to have trained in cave and quarry rescue, having to cover the underground area of Corsham
.
The fire and rescue service's headquarters is located at Manor House, Potterne
, Devizes

.
As part of the FiReControl
project, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue's control room was due to switch over to the regional control centre in Taunton
. Originally scheduled to take place in September 2010, the cutover date was revised to March 2012,
however the plan was scrapped in December 2010.

cover. The aim of a co-responder team is to preserve life until the arrival of either a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) or an ambulance
. Co-responder vehicles are equipped with oxygen and automatic external defibrillation (AED)
