William Henry Dieterich (March 31, 1876 October 12, 1940) was a United States Senator and Congressman from the State of Illinois
. He was born near Cooperstown, Illinois
. He was a Democrat.
Dieterich was admitted to the bar
in 1901 and began to practice in Rushville, Illinois
. During the Spanish-American War
, he served as a corporal. Upon his return to civilian life, he became the city attorney for Rushville as well as being a county judge. He also served in the Illinois House of Representatives
1917-1921. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1931 and served a single term. In 1933, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served one term. He did not run for re-election, instead returning to his law practice. He died in Springfield, Illinois
