The first ascent of the southern peak was accomplished in 1848 by Leander Klotz and an unknown farmer of the region. The even higher northern peak was also first climbed by Leander Klotz.

The most taken route to the top is from the Breslauer Hütte. You start walking from the village Vent to the hut. The main part of the climbers sleep at the hut and go further to the summit the next day. From the Breslauerhütte it is 4,5h walking/climbing to the summit.

An alternative route goes from the Braunschweigerhütte in the Pitztaler glacier

s to the Mittelbergjoch and further over the Tasachferner (glacier with a lot of crevasses in this area) to the summit of the Wildspitze. The average time used for this tour is 6,5h.

The lookout from the peak is only limited by the curvature of the earth. To the east one can see as far as the Schobergruppe and the Bernese Alps
