program that teaches basic mountaineering skills to students. It is 41 years old.

The classes are held in the winter of every year. There are four class locations: Long Beach, Orange, West LA, and San Gabriel Valley. To graduate, a student must attend all 10 classes and six outings (four from the class and two separate outings.) The class teaches basic navigation, wilderness travel, gear selection, conditioning, safety, first aid, etc.
