History

Whitmore High School was created in September 1974 when the London Borough of Harrow, adopted a comprehensive

 system of education. Before this it was known Lascelles Secondary Modern School which consisted of two schools, with boys being taught in one half and girls in the other. Whitmore is now an established modern high school with a new sixth form and is a specialist Science College

. In September 2010 the school moved to a new building which boasts state of the art IT facilities and many environmental features.

It has a 400 year old oak tree in the middle of its playing field which is protected by a preservation order.

Uniform

The uniform consists of a black blazer, emblazoned with the Whitmore badge on the left hand side, black trousers (or skirt for girls), white Shirts and a grey and black striped tie.

Sixth form

Whitmore opened its sixth form in 2005 as part of the borough's collegiate. Therefore, students can choose to whether they wish to stay on at Whitmore or to go to a different college. Uniform is not worn by sixth formers, and the students benefit from a purpose built study and common room.
