History of White Lion (Elias De Leon)

Elijah's musical career began when De Leon by finishing high school in Puerto Rico, decided to go to study and work in a restaurant in New York.

In New York he followed street dancing as the "electro boogie, but urban Latin music did not catch his attention until he attended a performance of legendary Puerto Rican rapper Vico C.

It was at that time that De Leon decided to meet the representative of Vico C, Jorge Oquendo, better known as "The Sexy Boy."

De Leon saw that the work was performed Oquendo wanted to do in the future.

"I liked singing, but what I loved at the time was what made Oquendo. I awoke the curiosity, "he recalled.

In 1992 he met DJ Playero Puerto Rican veteran producer, creator of the first reggaeton albums, formerly called "rap and reggae" or "underground."

De Leon returned to Puerto Rico to visit Playero and met several singers in the recording of the release of "Playero 37", including world-renowned Daddy Yankee.

In this album was that De Leon made his debut as executive producer.

Thanks to good sales of the album, De Leon and Playero bought recording equipment for two thousand dollars.

De Leon began his career as an executive producer for his signature "White Lion" by signing the late rapper Black artists and kept looking for their first album, until he produced the debut album of Daddy Yankee, "No Mercy" (1995).

A year later, released the album "White Lion - Reggae Rap All Stars, which included some of the founders of the Latin urban genre as the duo Maicol y Manuel, Chezina, Pirin and the Mansion Crew, consisting of Alberto Stylee and Nico Canada.

Then, De Leon joined Playero & Nico Canada to launch versions of the discs "Boricua Guerrero."

The first version, "Boricua Guerrero EP", containing eight tracks which included a mix of songs that came out in the editing.

Also, "First Combat Boricua Guerrero" was the first album that rose to international reggaeton movement by including American and Puerto Rican rappers.

Between U.S. rappers who participated in the recording were Busta Rhymes, Nas, Lost Boys, Q-Tip, Fat Joe and Big Pun deceased.

For Puerto Rico, the singers who participated were Yankee, Eddie Dee, Hector "El Father", Tito "El Bambino", Don Chezina, Rey Pirin, Maicol Manuel and Alberto Stylee.

Subsequently, De Leon continued to produce discs Maicol and Manuel, Eddie Dee, and Mexican, but in those days, the genre was being banned by the Government of Puerto Rico for its sexual content and offensive.

However, it was not until he reached the figure of Tego Calderon to launch their first album "The Perfect Melody" (2002), which changed the view of critics.

"The first time I heard Tego, I knew I was a star. For those times, throw a disc was swimming upstream, "he recalled.

De Leon continued success in your company by signing Zion y Lennox, John Eric, and Julio Voltio.

However, Calderon moved away from "White Lion" after the release of "The enemy of guasíbiris" (2004), but the same day, the cousin of De Leon, Rosario Carli, presented a demo disk of Calle 13.

Due to the departure of White Lion Calderon, De Leon said he "did not want to know music, but decided to hear the demo disk Calle 13.

"The first song I heard was 'The Tribe'. I said, 'This guy is pretty crazy. " Everyone told me not to give him a chance, but I insisted that yes, "he said.

At this time, the group began its history in music to have achieved 11 Latin Grammy Awards and an Anglo-Saxon.

"We knew we were going to make a different product. Resident feels happy about what he does and must be respected. I can not say anything bad about him because he is succeeding, "he explained.
