. The school's mascot is the wolf. Construction on the new school was completed summer 2010, and instead of the unique circular structure of the old school, it now has a "L-shape." The parking lot and bus loop are much larger now. The school now covers 40000 square feet (3,716.1 m²) and has a capacity of 349 students. The new school now features 2 kindergarten rooms, with a separate play area, 10 residential class rooms, 2 Discovery Centres, 1 science room, 1 Art Room, 1 Music Room, 1 Special Education room, a 3200 sq ft (297.3 m²) gym with change rooms and stage, and a 2400 sq ft (223 m²). Library.

With expanded kindergarten room capacity next year, Whitchurch Highlands has been designated as one of the 25 York Region schools to start the new all day, every day kindergarten program for JK and SK students in September. The Early Learning Program (ELP) has been set in motion by the Ministry of Education to ensure solid early pre-school learning. It is a gradual implementation process with all schools in the province having this program within 6 years.

History

The official opening of Whitchurch Highlands Public School was in 1968, and the school's design was considered revolutionary because its hallways are in a large circle around the gym with the classrooms radiating out from the hallways. Facilities in Whitchurch Highlands included: Music Room, Gym, Classrooms, Computer Lab, Outdoor Fields, Soccer Field, Outdoor Classrooms, Library, and Portables. The school covered 32000 square feet (2,972.9 m²) with a capacity of 288. There were approximately 60 computers in the school, distributed in the computer labs and around the school. As of 2005 there were 15 regular teachers, 2 French teachers, 4 SERT's, 3 CYW's, 2 EA's, and 2 caretakers.

Whitchurch Highlands was torn down and construction of the new school started in summer 2009. Student who attended Whitchurch Highlands settled into their temporary home at Orchard Park located at 276 Sunset Blvd. in Stouffville, Ontario

Before the school was demolished the police used the vacant school for some training practice and drills.
