WLHS provides for student development through varied curricula, including Advanced Placement (AP) and honors courses. Students take four 90-minute classes each term. The academic year, which is 36 weeks long, is divided equally into two terms.

Career-technical education
Career-technical education, a priority of the Lincoln County Board of Education, is provided at the high school and the Lincoln County School of Technology. LCST, a unique centralized educational center, serves as an extension of the four county high schools. Students attend daily 90-minute classes during the 11th and 12th grades. Career-technical students may participate in apprenticeships, career internships, and earn college credits through articulation agreements with local institutions of higher learning. The Lincoln County Job-Ready System of career majors helps students relate academics to the real world and develop realistic, rewarding career goals.Spirit Week
West Lincoln hosts several events every year. Spirit Week is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. Spirit Week is held in the week of the homecoming football game. Every day has a different theme and the students are allowed to dress up for the day. There is always a pajama day, and at the end of the week, the day of the big game, is called "Rowdy Rebel" day. On Rowdy Rebel day, students wear their homecoming shirts and their best pair of overalls. On the morning of Rowdy Rebel day, West Lincoln hosts a "Tractor Parade". Students will sign up and drive their tractors to school. The parade is followed by a pep rally to celebrate homecoming.Clubs

Sports
West Lincoln has nineteen different sports including American football, baseball, men's and women's basketball, softball, wrestling, men's and women's tennis, men's soccer and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and volleyball. All of these, with the exception of tennis, track, soccer and golf, have junior varsity and varsity teams.Wrestling
The most notable sport at West Lincoln is the wrestling team. It won the 2-A state tournament in 2000 and was state runner-ups in 2005. It has also won the conference championship in 2008.2005
In 2005, West Lincoln High School Football reached the playoffs for the first time in school history. They lost in the first round of the playoffs to East Rutherford 50-6. The team was coached by Randall Gusler.2006
In 2006, West Lincoln Football Rebels made it to the playoffs again, this time under Head Coach Mark Hoover. The Rebel team played Shelby High School, and suffered a loss of 41-22.2009
In 2009, under the direction of Head Coach Mark Lathem the Rebels fell one game short of qualifying for the playoffs.2010
Under the direction of Head Coach Tom Sain, the Rebels showed life again in the playoffs for the first time since 2006. The Rebels fell 35-27 to Wilkes Central. During West Lincoln's strong record in 2010, they also had a strong runningback named Devyn Travis. Travis finished his West Lincoln career by placing his name on top of many Rebel rushing records. Most notable, Devyn Travis is ranked number two on Lincoln County's career rushing record. West Lincoln's Junior Varsity team went a perfect 9-0, which is to be believed the first time in school history.Tennis
The men's tennis team won the Conference Championship in 2008 for the first time in seventeen years.Notable alumni
