's proposed Indy Works government cost-savings plan. Although Indy Works, which included merging of Marion County fire departments as part of its cost saving efforts, failed to pass in the City-County Council, on July 1, 2007, the Warren Township Fire Department also voluntarily consolidated with the Indianapolis Fire Department. In 2008, the township population was 133,790.
