Walton has held an annual "Old Fashion Day" every September since 1973 (the 175th birthday of Boone County). Waltonians decorate store windows with old-fashioned artifacts such as quilts, family heirlooms, old photographs. Some residents dress in period costumes. A parade and a street fair with crafts, games, and live music is held.

Amenities

The City of Walton is part of the Walton-Verona Independent School District. There is an elementary school in the neighboring community of Verona, and a high school and middle school within Walton itself. The elementary school houses about 500 students, and services preschool through fourth grade. The middle school services grades five through eight and the high school teaches grades nine through twelve. One parochial elementary school exists in the city, with parochial high schools nearby.
