It was new Seasiders manager Sandy MacFarlane who brought Bussey to the seaside in his first season in charge. Bussey made his debut in a goalless draw at Millwall on 30 September, eight games into the 1933–34 League campaign. He went on to make a further twenty-four appearances in the League that season, scoring eight goals in the process. He also scored in the first of Blackpool's two FA Cup
