Dr. Tina Hoots served as principal, taking over from Mr. Andre Smith in early 2009 when he was promoted to district superintendent. However, Mr Clinton Robinson took over as principal for the 2011-2012 school year since Dr. Hoots retired in late June, 2011. For the 2009-2010 school year WFR-HS is at the new Heritage High School location, to allow renovations to be made to the campus. The students are now back in WFR-HS. There are approximately 2,025 students in attendance with a 1:16 staff:student ratio. There is also a AJROTC program headed by Lt Col Demtrius Belmont.
4A classification in the CAP 8 conference (through 2010). The varsity football team went to the state championship game 2010-2011 season, but they lost to nationally ranked Butler High School 44-0. In 2011-2012 they were beat twice by rival Leesville Road High School, losing both the CAP 8 championship, and in the second round of the North Carolina State playoffs.
