WOHZ-CA was founded in 1989 as W50BE, but gained the call-sign of WOHZ-LP in late 1995, before being upgraded to a Class A station.

The station broadcasts from the same tower as WMFD-TV 68, and while it is on channel 50, other sources list the station on channel 41 or even channel 57.
