History

The station was assigned call letters WERU on August 10, 1981. On March 12, 1985, the station changed its call sign to WMAD then on January 27, 1997, to the current WNWC/ The original WERU format was Adult Standards. It was also all news (CNN) for a time with the WMAD call letters, then back to standards before going silent and returning as WNWC.
