Vítor Silva played for Benfica, from 1927/28 to 1935/36, when he had to leave competition, aged only 27, after a serious injury. He won three titles of the Championship of Portugal, in 1929/30, 1930/31 and 1934/35, and the first ever title of the Portuguese I League, in 1935/36.

He had 19 caps for Portugal, scoring 8 goals, since his first game, a 2-2 draw with Spain
