A classmate of Garvin's at Somerville College, Oxford, was Constance Savery (1897-1999), whose work diary contains the entry "Feb. 2nd-4th 1969, Viola Garvin died on Jan. {blank] 1969." Savery's diary is in the manuscript collection at the Knight Library, University of Oregon.
