During his career as a player he first played for Cherry Orchard where as a schoolboy footballer he won 4 league titles 3 all Ireland cup medals and several DDSL cups. His highlight at schoolboy came when he scored the winning goal in the Northern Ireland Milk Cup beating the Mighty Glasgow Rangers in the final. He then went on the join the senior ranks of the club where he won all honours at lsl level with the highlight been his winning goal in the intermediate final in 1998.After the he has helped both Longford Town & Shamrock Rovers to promotion to the Premier Division, as well as being an integral part to Longford Town's 3 cup successes.

His brother Paul played with him at Longford during the late 1990s.
