Guard. The Windsor battalion is at Victoria Barracks, a quarter of a mile south of the Castle. It is Victoria Barracks where troops set off from to change the guard at Windsor Castle. Victoria Barracks is currently home to the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. Points to note are that Victoria Barracks currently has the oldest carpets out of all regular British Army barracks based in mainland UK, also it is one of the only locations in the country where the hot water contains diesel (run a bath and look for the oil slick).
