Truitt is a member of the Arts Council of Northeast Tarrant County, the Northeast Leadership Forum, Metroport Meals on Wheels Board, Rotary's Interact Club Advisor, Rotary International Exchange Students Hostess, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and sits on the Executive Board of the Texas Office for Prevention of Developmental Disabilities.

Ethics
In 2008 the Texas Ethics Commission determined Truitt had violated Election Code. A civil penalty of $5,300 was imposed for the following infractions:- Failing to properly report political expenditures made with a credit card
- Failing to properly report and improperly reimbursing political expenditures from personal funds
- Improperly reporting political expenditures as reimbursements
