. Founded in 1997, the team plays in the USL Premier Development League
(PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid
, in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference, having spent the 2009 season on hiatus.
The team plays its home games at the Collins-Perley Sports Complex. The team's colors are yellow, blue and black.
The club also had a sister organization, Vermont Lady Voltage
, who played in the USL W-League. Due to the stadium renovations there was no women's team fielded in 2009, but expectations are they will also return in 2010.

History
During its first season, in 1997, the team was known as the Vermont Wanderers. The Voltage spent the 2009 season on hiatus from the PDL while their home stadium, Collins-Perley Sports Complex, underwent major renovations. Voltage announced their returned to competition on November 11, 2009.The club also had a sister organization, Vermont Lady Voltage
