Vazhikkadavu is a small town in Nilambur
taluk of Malappuram district, India
. It is located on the CNG (Calicut-Nilambur-Gudalur) road 20 km north-east of Nilambur
town. Just after Vazhikkadavu town the ghat road (known as Nadukani Churam) starts through forests leading to Nadukani (20 km away) in Nilgiris district. The Kerala-Tamilnadu border is at about 10 km from Vazhikkadavu.
There are buses to Manjeri, Perinthalmanna, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Thiruvanathapuram, etc.Moreover inter-state buses to Gudalur
, Ooty, Mysore, Mandya
, Hasan, Bangalore
and Sulthan Bathery

The river Karakkodan puzha
flows through Vazhikkadavu town and joins Maruthappuzha
at Munda. Through the south-eastern part of Vazhikkadavu panchayath Punnappuzha
flows. There are tarred roads from Vazhikkadavu to Karakkode, Poovathippoyil, Marutha (through Mamankara) and Nellikkuth (from Manimooli).
Manimooli is a developing town on the way to Vazhikadavu from Nilambur. There is a catholic church, a hospital and a post office . There are banks such as federal bank, state bank of travancore, co-operative bank etc. Before the settlement of families as Vadasseril etc. the serene atmosphere of the region was dominated by the murmuring sound developed from the bamboo trees during the blow of wind, and thus the name occurred for the place. The soil is suspected to have the element gold, but no attempt made so far for the recovery.
Karakkode Durga Devi Temple and Sri Ramananda Ashramam.
This is the most famous Hindu pilgrim centre in Nilambur Area. The temple is very old. It is under the management of Ramananda Ashramam. H.H. Swami Sreedharananda is the founder of ashrama.
