Cristocea made his debut playing for Carsium Hârşova's youth teams, before joining Farul Constanţa in 1999 and then Steaua Bucureşti seven years later.At Steaua Bucureşti he is yet to establish himself as a first team regular, however he is a very good option for the team's coach, as he proved himself during some important matches, which include one in UEFA Champions League
