Variable Message Format
Encyclopedia
Variable Message Format, abbreviated "VMF", is a protocol used in communicating tactical military information.

A message formatted using VMF can be sent via many communication methods. Because it does not define this method, it is not a Tactical Digital Information Link.

VMF is documented in MIL-STD-6017.
