The club has enjoyed considerable success over the years. The club has a very even balance between football and hurling, both in terms of success on the playing field and in the relative emphasis placed on the two sports within the club. Furthermore, in recent years, the advent and growth of camogie and ladies' football has added a new dimension to the club.

The club caters from U7 to Senior. The club's major highlights to date was the winning of the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship

 title twice, first in 1989 and a decade later in 2009 and the Cork Premier Intermediate Football championship in 2009.

Ladies Football

Since the creation of the ladies football club in 1995 (Adult section) the underage setup followed in 1999 and in their first year they captured the U14 C County. From there the club has gone from strength to strength fielding from U8-Intermediate, winning all the major underage grades and reaching the finals every year in some age group. The club competes in both the West Cork League and County championship. The adult teams have enjoyed success in recent years with a Junior B title in 2008 and an U21B title in 2009. Recent underage success was the capturing of an U16 county in 2009. A new grading system was brought in for 2010 with the Junior A Championship being regraded as Intermediate.

Cork Representatives:
Inter county teams have also had their share of Valley Rovers players over the years. Margeret Murphy (U14-U18), Anne O Donavan, (Primary Game-SeniorA), Maryanne Hawkes (U14, Senior B), Sinead O Callaghan (U16), Eimear Cummins (U14), Tessa Crowley (U16), Sile Johnson,(U16-Senior A), Vivien Melia, (Primary game-Senior B),Sarah O Donavan, Clodagh Deasy, Orla Deasy and Lucy Hawkes (Senior B) with many others playing for the Cailin Oga over the years.

Camogie

The Camogie Club was founded in 1987 and has grown considerable and now has close to 200 members. It caters for the ages of U7 right through to Senior B. The club has in recent year enjoyed success in the underage with title wins from U12A right through to U18B. In the adult section of the club the mid-nineties were golden year with a Junior B title in 1995 followed by a Junior A title in 1996. They had to wait until 2004 through for their next adult tile when they capture a Junior A County and League double.

Cork Representatives:
Over the past number of year the club has enjoyed strong representation in the Cork Colours and a few All Ireland medals reside in the club. Elaine Burke was given the honour of Captaining Cork in 2005 to their 21st All Ireland Senior title after being nominated by the divisional side Carrigdhoun who captures the Senior A title in 2004. She also holds medals at minor and junior level as well as national league titles. She has also represented Munster. Elaine isn't the only member of the club to hold medals at Senior Level. Nancy O Driscoll (formerly of Éire Óg) won many an all Ireland medal. Also a number of the younger members of the club can be added to the list. Lucy Hawkes has won All Ireland medals at minor, junior, Senior B and Senior A Level, National league div 1 and 2 and also has represented Munster at Junior and Senior level. Clodagh Deasy, Gillian Harrington, Liz Bugler have all capture Munster medals and most notably All Ireland Senior B medals in 2006. Liz has also represented Ireland at international level as well As having Junior and minor All Ireland titles. Gillian Harrington also has an All Ireland Junior medal and an Ashbourne shield medal with C.I.T along with team mate Lucy. Maryanne Hawkes has represented Cork from Primary Game through to U16 and has an All Ireland U 14 medal.

In 2007 the u11 team went to Dublin for a match and won the south east division hurling and football.

2008 was a historic year for the club as they claimed the Cork County intermediate football title. Wins against Aghabullogue, Macroom

 and the team delivered with a hard fought victory on a scoreline of 1-12 to 3-4. The year was capped by victory in the Division 3 league final courtesy of a victory over Balinora.
