Valerie Worth Bahlke (pen name Valerie Worth) was a poet and author of children's books.

Life


Valerie Worth was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Swarthmore. Then they moved to Tampa, Florida and Bangalore, India, where they lived for one year. She returned to Swarthmore for college, where she got and English Degree and High Honors. Later she married George Bahlke. After she settled in Clinton, NY, she met Natalie Babbit, who illustrated her work. Valerie wrote Small Poems', More Small Poems, and Still More Small Poems. Fourteen years later she wrote All the Small Poems and Fourteen More. In 2002 Peacock and Other Poems was published.

Family

Valerie Worth had a husband named George W. Bahlke, a son named Conrad, two daughters named Catherine B. Hornstein and Margaret B. Diskin. Worth had two brothers named Michael and Douglas Worth, and a granddaughter.
