The metro system was officially opened on 18 November 2006 with 3 stations along a 4.7 km (2.9 mi) route, operating for limited hours but providing service free of charge. Normal revenue service with 7 stations began 18 November 2007.

Valencia Metro:
  • operates: Monday-Friday from 6am to 8:30pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 6:00am to 7:30pm;

Lines

Currently Valencia Metro operates one half of its first line, with the other half still under construction and a second still on a planning stage: Line 1 (14.5 km), in which only 4.7km are functional and 9.8km still under construction on a common south-north trajectory. It's a common mistake to confuse every segment of construction of the first line to be independent, but when the system is fully completed it will form a single continuous line and no transfers will be necessary to continue a trip. The separarte east-west Line 2 (18.2 km) will connect mainly the Valencia Municipality
