. He spent his entire life following Gandhian principles and strongly believed the concept of development and self-reliance of villages. India is a country of a million villages, most of them lacking the most basic facilities such as water, health care, road connectivity, electricity and telecommunications. Hence he initiated a concept of "Grama Swarajyam" which means "Independence of Villages"

He died in August 1995 at the age of 91. He survived by his wife (late Suseelamma 1913-1997), 6 sons and 2 daughters.

Sri Kuchibhotla Ramakrishna Sastry garu of Pedakonduru Village was the Maternal Uncle of Ramasastry Garu. He had 5 sons and 3 daughters. Eldest of the sons was Sri.Kuchibhotla Sitarama Sarma born in 1914 and was imprisoned in Tanajavur Brostal School having participated in 1930 Salt Satyagraha. He was the Jailmate of Sri Putchalapalli Sundariah in Rajahmundry. He was a freedom fightor and recipient of Tamrapatra by Indira Gandhi the Prime minister of India.
He died in 2007 Jan 5th At Hyderabad at the residence of His Grandson Sri Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar has performed Kanakabhishekam to His grandfather.
