The University of Edinburgh School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is a school within the College of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh
. The School was formed in 2002 as a result of administrative restructuring, when several departments of what was then the Faculty of Arts were brought together. The University of Edinburgh's academic foundation is based on three Colleges containing a total of 22 Schools. . The three main Colleges include Colleges
Humanities & Social Science, Medicine & Veterinary Medicine, and Science & Engineering,. and one of the 22 schools is Edinburgh School of Philosophy, Psychologo and Language Sciences.
The School covers three disciplines:
It also houses much of the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology.
The University of Edinburgh's Psychology department has organized its research along 3 broad themes:
1. Differential Psychology: looks at the the way people are identical and how they think, behave, and feel emotions differently, allowing them to better understand how people are psychologically a like and which characteristics differ
2. Human Cognitive Neuroscience:
interests in memory, attention, executive function, visual memory, sensory integration, and perceptuo-motor control in adults who function normally and those who possess disorders within the nervous system
3. Language Cognition and Communication: covers topics in comprehension or understanding, invention and conversation

1. The Head of the School holds responsible for the academic leadership, overall management and strategy of the School including development of academic and resource plans, promotion of research activity and management of resources. Current head of the School is Prof Andy McKinlay.
2. The School Administrator supports the Head of School in all aspects of the organisation, management of the School, school administrator is also directly responsible for financial strategy and management, project management, estates management, HR administration, and for overall management of the School’s support services.
