Unibet Open
Encyclopedia
Unibet Open is a series of live €1,500 buy-in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments in Europe, operated by Unibet International
and started in 2007 with an event in Warsaw, Poland. These tournaments take place in various European countries.
Each year, a new Unibet Open tournament tour begins, and each tour generally has new destinations, such as Prague, London, Algarve, Budapest, Valencia and Barcelona. The aim of each tournament is to encourage an international field of amateur and professional players to come together, live, over the felt, in some of Europe’s premier holiday destinations. Most tournaments are capped at 450 entrants, generating prize pools in the region of €500,000.
Besides the Main Event, each Unibet Open leg also includes side events (tournaments), access to cash games and parties, organised specifically for the players. Unibet Open provides comprehensive live coverage of all their events, including live streaming of the feature/final tables and also offers live betting during the final day.
With the 2011 tour, Unibet Open has started including an online version of the event, which takes the tournament offering up to a total of 10 events for that season. The new combination of live and online events also offers a new leaderboard structure. This means that 5% of the prize pool of each Unibet Open Live event will be allocated toward the yearly leaderboard, and be paid out to the 10 players with highest points ranking, after the last event for the year.
