The track listing for this album was released on March 20, revealing that 5 of the songs on this album are re-recorded versions of songs that have been previously released. The full album was leaked onto the internet on April 17; pre-order information also soon surfaced online.

In June 2008, it was announced that Underdog Alma Mater would be re-released as a deluxe edition on July 7, 2009. This new release features the original songs plus 18 previously unreleased tracks, including demos and acoustic songs, as well as a DVD.
