in 1993. Since its inception, the band's line-up has included Jason Fowler (lead vocals, rhythm & lead guitars), Brent Wilson (bass guitar, keyboards), Brooks Wilson (rhythm & lead guitar). The band has been through several drummers over the years: current drummer is Chad Fowler (2007–present), Tom Conroy (1997–2006), and Gary Moseley (1993–1996).

Ultraphonic quickly broke into the Atlanta music scene with its debut album, Simpler Times, as the top-drawing rock group in some of Atlanta's finest and most notable rock venues: Hard Rock Cafe, The Cotton Club, Smith's Old Bar with its debut album, Ten. In its first live performance ever at Smith's Old Bar it one the 96 Rock Battle of the Bands Contest in 1995. By 1998, after having recorded and co-produced two more records with producer Bryan Holmes (drummer for the power-pop group The Producers): Ultraphonic (self-titled) and Impressions (never officially released), Ultraphonic had headlined the Atlantis Music Conference two years in a row and also performed on the 99X stage at Music Midtown Atlanta.

In 1999, Ultraphonic entered five unmastered songtracks from the Impression record into a contest on GarageBand.com. The contest was to win a $250,000 record deal. 48,000 songs from over 16,000 music groups were entered. Within several months all 5 Ultraphonic songs had risen into the top 30, with one song, Our World, taking #1 to win the competition. After several months of negotiations the band signed a recording contract with GarageBand. Ultraphonic then recorded and co-produced its next record with GarageBand staff producer Johnny Sandlin (Allman Brothers Band) at the infamous Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama. The label soon went broke and therefore the Reasons record has never been officially released.

In 2007, after several years of taking time off, Ultraphonic began self-production on its fifth recording project, yet to be titled. The album is scheduled for release sometime in 2009.
