In January 2009, Ubisoft announced the acquisition of Southlogic studio, located in the city of Porto Alegre
. The company became part of Ubisoft São Paulo, but with the office still located in Porto Alegre city.
In October 2010 Ubisoft said that it will scale back its South American business by the end of the year, as studios in the region have failed to meet corporate expectations.
