Tip later weakened to a Category 1 Typhoon before striking Japan in October 1979, causing the deaths of nearly 100 people. - 1983's Typhoon Tip (T8302, 02W, Auring) - Formed near the Philippines and hit China as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
