Swabi District is the fourth most populous district of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It lies between the Indus and Kabul Rivers. The residents are referred to as Swabva'l. The Mandanr Yusufzai subsection of the Yousafzai clan of the Pashtuns form a majority of the population.-...

It is a historical village and one of the oldest village of the area. About all the nearby villages in East and south, like Tarakai, Rashkai, Bacaye, a Part of Managai village, and a recent addition namely Kaludher have originated from this village. The people of Turlandi are traditional loving. Agriculture, small business in smaller proportion and services are the main sources of the income of the people of the area. Educational ratio is relatively small, but now it is increasing with a very great speed.
Turlandai has many PHDs and the first PHD of Turlandai is Dr. Mohammad Ullah. The first MBBS Doctor of Turlandai is Manzoor Ali.
Arshad Ali Advocate from Turlandai is the President of Sawabi Bar. He was the youngest child of the world who observed hunger strike against Ayub Khan's Martial Law.

This village (Thulandai)or (Turlandi) was visited by former Indian Prime Minister Pandat Jawahar Lal Nehru along with his daughter Indra Gandhi to convince pakhtoons to vote for India. In response to this Khan Liaqat Ali Khan also visited this village to get vote of pakhtoons in favour of Pakistan.

It is a historical village and one of the oldest village of the area. The most popular romantic story of Yousaf Khan Sher Bano is associated with this village on which the first popular Pukhto film was based. About all the nearby villages in East and south, like Tarakai, Rashkai, Bachayay, a Part of Managay village, and recent additions namely Kaludher, khwaja, talay and totee banda have originated from this village. The people of Toolandai are very traditional. Agriculture, small business in smaller proportion and services are the main sources of the income of the people of the area. Educational ratio is relatively small, but now it is increasing with a very great speed, with PhDs in agriculture, physics, veterinary sciences, computer science and chemistry.
Molana Shad Muhammad of this village was qualified up to Molvi Fazil level from Jaamia Azhar in 1930s. Popular poet Ajmal Khattak was honoured as Pukhto Baba-i-Nazam and was presented a Shield. Similarly Dr. Sher Zaman Taizi was honoured with a shield for his lifelong services to Pukhto in this village. The villagers are very excited ones and have proved themselves in almost all fields of life both in natural sciences and in social sciences. At present there are more than 40 poets (Pukhto)under the umbrella of Toolandai Adabi Tolana (founded by Dr. Yaseen Iqbal in 1992) with its first president Muhammad Saeed Abid. Rasool Akhund, Sher Mohammad Mainosh (Iqbaliyaat), Sher Ali Khan sati (shledalay Greywaan), Amir Ferosh Asi (Sra Guloona Srey sarwatkey) and Dr. Yaseen Iqbal (Dardoona che sandarey shee, Qaami Fikroona, Da Qaatil Yara Pir tseng jorhegee?, Zar aw zore, Khwaga Khaawra Tarkhey keesey, Rewaayati Lobey) are among the prominent ones who so far have published their own poetry books given in parentheses.
Afsar Ali Khan, the Nazim of Union Council Turlandi is famous for his tireless efforts in making Turlandi a model village not only of Swabi but of Pakistan. He is also busy in the formation of a Youth Assembly for the youngsters of the area. The establishment of the most demanding play ground in Turlandi is also one of his great achievement showing his love towards his soil. Afsar Ali Khan is also famous for his generosity. He is regarded as the best Union Nazim of District Swabi. His elder bother Miraj Muhammad Khan is a retired Director of population Welfare department.
Qazi Said Mehmood (Late) father of Qazi Nisar Mohammad was a great religious scholar and best known for his services to heal the masses through his religious and Quranic verses. People from all nooks and corners of whole province used to visit him for their grievances and miracally got healed. He was a poet too and wrote many poems related to sufferings of the people and depicted their hardships faced by them. He died at the age of 105 on July 11, 2006 and was laid to rest atTurlandi Graveyard.
He is still remembered for his great contributions in the area.
The main tribes dwelling in Turlandi are Dawran Khel, Ameer Khel, Jan Muhammad Khel, Buran Khel. Dawran Khel are in majority.

Miraj Muhammad Khan and Zar Quresh Khan are other two notable personalities of the village. Miraj Khan retired as Divisional Director of Population Welfare Department while Zar Quresh Khan went on to become the provisional director of Agriculture.
Quite a few Turlandians are living, studying and working in countries like UK, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

The very first female PhD Doctor Saima Naz daughter of Late Mumtaz Khan also belongs to Turlandi. She did her PhD in Physics from USA and now serving as a professor in a university in Saudi Arabia. Her brothers MBBS doctor Naveed Hussain, Majid Jehangir (a social worker) and Imad Hussain (PhD in Physics frm USA in progress) also are the pride of Turlandi. Majid Jehangir is the first Pashto Poet of this village who wrote Azad Nazam (Open Ended Poems). He is working on unity of Youth and for this purpose Majid Jehangir has registered an organization with the name, "The Youth Council" through which he has established a library in this village.
