Trumbull High School

History
Trumbull High School was founded in 1961 following a population increase in Trumbull during the 1950s. The high school was originally situated at 4630 Madison Avenue, in the building currently serving as Madison Middle School. As the 1960s progressed, the town was compelled to commission a new high school plant to accommodate further population growth. In 1971 a new school plant was constructed at 72 Strobel Road, offering a then modern auditorium (which was never actually designed to be an auditorium, but instead a lecture hall), a two story media center and complete athletic complex. Middlebrook Junior High School was converted to Middlebrook Elementary School and the Madison Avenue complex was converted to Madison Junior High School. The current principal is Robert Tremaglio. Before 1987, Trumbull High School served grades 10–12. Due to shifting demographics, Trumbull High moved to a grade 9–12 model for the 1987–88 school year.
Renovation
Recently, the Trumbull Board of Education commissioned an extensive renovation program for the school. The school is planned to be renovated as a "like new" facility. This means the entire school will be renovated. The old auditorium has already been replaced with a brand new state- of-the- art performance hall, complete with a brand new lobby and glass facade. In addition, two corner wings have been added to the areas between A&B wings and B&C wings on both floors. The nurses office has been relocated to a larger office in the M-wing, which is in its first phase of renovation, with new lighting in one part of the massive wing. Recently, culinary classes can appreciate brand new kitchens with an industrial kitchen in the works. There is also a new deans office located in M wing. A new main office is scheduled to be completed soon. Currently, A and C wings have been almost completely transformed with new lighting, lockers and classrooms. As well as benches lining the corridors. The classrooms are state of the art with new windows,smart-boards,climate control, flooring and a telephone for in school calls. The commons has also gotten improved lighting. The corridor where the former main office was now contains a row of 8 water fountains. The elevator has also been renovated with new fixtures and carpeting. The gym locker rooms are almost finished being reconstructed. B house is expected to be worked on over the summer and like A&C wings will contain new house offices including guidance.AP Classes
