Much of the community are forested. The mining area (pit) that is used for creating electricity since the opening of the plant is in the east and has created to form into a reservoir. Pine trees are founded in the west, grasslands and pastures in the central part and forests with other kinds of trees in the eastern part. The village has no train station. The mountains are founded in the south, west and the northwest outside Tripotamo.

Until 1927, the village was known as Dedebei (Δεδέμπεη).

Until the 1960s, the village did not have electricity and didn't had paved roads until GR-7 became paved . Until the mid-1980s, much of the houses were stone-built.

The village in the past 80 years lost by 80% while the population until 1981 lost by 60% but recovered the where the population was in the 1970s. The population lost more than half between 1991 and 2001.
