. Enrollment for each semester is approximately 12,000 students working their way toward college transfer associate degrees and technical associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. TTC's curriculum includes programs in Aeronautical Studies, Allied Health Science, Business Technology, Community Family and Child Studies, Film Media and Visual Arts, Hospitality Tourism and Culinary Arts, Humanities and Social Science, Industrial and Engineering Technology, Law-Related Studies, Nursing, and Science and Mathematics.

History

Trident Technical College was formed in 1973 from the merger of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Technical Education Center and Palmer College.

Campus growth

The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Technical Education Center started with two buildings in 1964 and expanded to two campuses when it merged with Palmer College in 1973. A third campus was built near Moncks Corner in 1982 to better meet the needs of students living in Berkeley County. In 1986, the Palmer campus was moved to its current location in downtown Charleston which has been expanded through a series of renovation starting in 1986. In 1993 and 1994 the college purchased 147 acres (59 ha) adjacent to its Main campus in North Charleston and in 1997 opened the first phase of the Complex for Economic Development. The Complex for Economic Development was completed during 2005 and 2006 with the Culinary Institute of Charleston and the Information Technology Center opening in 2005 and the Learning Center, Trident Aeronautical Training Center, the Nursing Auditorium and the Industrial Maintenance Technology Center opening in 2006. In 2008 the Palmer campus was renovated and expanded and the St. Paul's Parish site was opened in Hollywood, SC to meet the needs of students living in southern Charleston county.
