Trenches was a metal band formed in Indianapolis, Indiana by former Haste the Day
singer Jimmy Ryan.
soon after that he got married and accepted a position at Tooth & Nail Records
. He started a new band called Trenches. His last show with Haste The Day was in the band's hometown of Indianapolis
on December 30, 2005.
In 2008, Trenches signed to Solid State Records
and recorded their debut record The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole
which was released September 16, 2008. Lyrics for the songs were not included in the booklet, leaving fans anxious for their release. Jimmy Ryan has stated that he will not be releasing the lyrics, though. "The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole" was recorded, engineered and produced by guitarist Joel Lauver in 2 basements and an apartment closet. Mastered by T-roy at Spectre.

Their first show ever was on November 24, 2007 in Noblesville, IN at the 4-H Grounds. Their first national show was at Cornerstone
2008. Trenches was scheduled to play Cornerstone
2009, but their name was removed from the listings.
Trenches released a new song called "Ties That Bind" on their myspace
page on April 30, 2009. It is labeled as a demo track, it is unclear when the song will be released. In September 2010 they announced their new album, "Reckoner", will be released soon. According to Joel's Facebook Trenches is no longer active, and it's unclear if the new album will ever be released.
