The programme contains round-ups of recent sports action from across the world along with longer in-depth features. It is notable for its insight reports of lesser-known and traditional sports from around the world.

Transworld Sport also focuses on sportsmen and women from all over the world who are tipped to become successful in their sport in the future, as well as great sports people from the past.

It was first broadcast in May 1987 on Channel 4
