Transmitter Trier

The Transmitter Trier went in service in 1932. It was situated at the Ruwerer Street 16, Trier
, Germany
and used from its inauguration on February 19, 1933 until the year 1935 as transmitting antenna a vertical cage aerial, which hung from a hemp rope, which was strung between two 60 metres high wooden towers. In 1935 this antenna was replaced by a wire antenna, which was hung inside a 107 metres high wood tower.
Between 1932 and September 30, 1936, there was also a studio in Trier, which was then moved to Koblenz
.
At the end of the war the technical installations of the transmitter were dismantled by the armed forces. In 1948 the wooden tower was dismantled.
In 1950 a new medium-wave transmitter was built on the Petrisberg at 49°45′56"N 6°39′33"E, which used as transmitting antenna a guyed mast built of lattice steel, which was insulated from ground. This plant was moved in 1958 toward Markusberg, where it was until 1974 in service.
