The Transitional National Government (TNG) of Somalia
was established in April
–May 2000 at the Somalia National Peace Conference (SNPC) held in Djibouti
.
The TNG was militarily and politically opposed by the Somalia Reconciliation and Restoration Council
(SRRC), which was formed by rival warlords including Hussein Mohamed Farrah Aidid and Mohamed Dhere.
Besides its external threats, the TNG was plagued with internal problems, and disruptive foreign intervention which resulted in the replacement of the Prime Minister four times in three years and its reported bankruptcy in December 2003.
The TNG was succeeded by the Transitional Federal Government
(TFG), which was created in November 2004.
