Transgressions
Encyclopedia
Transgressions is an American progressive/metal/experimental four piece band from Pensacola, Florida.
Transgressions was formed in late March 2011 by guitarist Danny Hiljus, and drummer Christopher 'little bear' Theriault. Vocalist Brian Goetz was quickly added to the mix, from a previous band he and Chris were in just weeks earlier. Brian had a similar taste in music and was an all around outstanding vocalist with his distinctive highs, punchy mids, and crushing lows.
After just two days of jamming and writing between Chris and Danny, they had already pieced together the beginning stages of their first song 'World of lies', and quickly made a band profile on Facebook under the name 'Indefinite Clarity'. Shortly after, Danny had local guitarist John Burgos come to a practice and the three immediately finished writing World of lies. The following day John was added to the members section on the bands profile, and the band was finally a four piece. Johns style, and chops fit so well with the direction that Danny and Chris wanted to initially take the bands music towards, and their unique sound started to shine through. Soon after they decided to change the bands name to Transgressions, and so it was born.
After recording a horrible quality demo of World of Lies and adding it to the band page, they began getting some feedback which mostly consisted of a few pats on the back for not doing the typical "two step - breakdown - two step" structure of writing. Slowly being established for a band trying to do something different in the local music scene, they progressed in their writing as a band and began fusing heavier and more progressive parts in newer songs while still keeping their 'salsa, jazz, and latin' riffs in each song.
After booking their first show, they caught wind from a friend of a contest for local unsigned talent and decided to quickly jump on the ball and record a single in a professional studio. After searching around for a decent priced studio with the quality they desired, they stumbled across Drew Ray of The Satellite Studio and instantly fell in love with the quality and affordable price. They recorded the song 'Tribulations' as their first serious song as a band, after piecing the last half of the song together in the studio. Chris and Brian quickly wrote the lyrics as Danny and John hammered out the guitar tracks. Surprised at the outcome after writing in the studio, they posted the song on the facebook page, and ReverbNation and began getting tons of great feedback. After just 4 days since the release of their single Tribulations, they jumped from dead last on the National Metal charts (24,000+) to 2,395th.
Transgressions is in the process of writing more material to soon hit the studio again and finish an EP in which the name or art has not yet been released. While still a fresh band, they are talking to companies working out endorsement deals, with plans of a few mini tours with some fellow locals.
