The Facility is widely known by many in the Townsville region as "Stuart Prison". Currently, it is the only correctional centre in Queensland to hold mainstream males, females and protection prisoner within the same secure perimeter. At this time a new female facility is being constructed on the precinct, outside the secure perimeter.'
