The building was constructed in 1967 and at 77m (with 20 floors) is currently the joint fifth tallest building in Leeds, along with Park Plaza Hotel Leeds

. Tower North Central was recently refurbished in 2003-2004, and now provides 76800 sq ft (7,135 m²) of office space. The main tenant is AXA Insurance, occupying seven of the nineteen floors to let. However, nine of the floors are still without a permanent occupant.
