The Top 50 refers to a list of weekly hit singles, or albums. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the same but similar to the top 40, but with 10 extra places.

launched its charts in 1960 to rival the existing chart compilers, it choose to list a top 50, making it the largest chart ever printed in that country at the time.
