Sylva joined OSC Lille on the June 8, 2004, on a free transfer from AS Monaco. He played 163 games over four years for Lille.

In July 2008, Sylva signed a two-year deal with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor in a deal worth £950,000. Although his contract at Lille was due to expire in June 2009, according to Article 17
