Despite playing only 12 games for Collingwood, Wright appeared in a semi final in each of his two seasons, 1906 and 1907. After leaving the VFL, Wright went to New Zealand and returned as the country's captain for the Jubilee Australasian Football Carnival
where they defeated both New South Wales and Queensland. Wright finished his career in the VFA at Prahran
