Records of Horne, a goalkeeper, are few and far between. His date and place of birth are unknown, but his time spent with Plymouth Argyle is reasonably well documented. He was spotted playing for Essa, a local club based in Saltash

 club was brief, he spent just one season there before returning to Argyle in November 1907.

He won his first major title with the club in 1913 when the club were crowned Southern League champions. He would continue to play for the club for another two years before retiring from the professional game in November 1914. He made 240 appearances in all competitions for Plymouth Argyle.
